Heathrow Express Launches Ticket-In-A-Phone App

Heathrow Express, the fast shuttle train between London Paddington station and Heathrow Airport terminals, has launched a free app for all major mobile platforms that allows users to buy and receive tickets to their handsets in less than 30 seconds.
The application will allow them to get live service updates and to purchase the tickets at the lowest fares. The ticket downloaded to the handset will be in the form of a 2D/QR barcode which can be presented to the onboard train staff.
The service currently accepts all major credit and debit card excluding Maestro; customers can purchase an electronic ticket up to 15 minutes before the train actually leaves the station with tickets valid for up to six months from the date of purchase.
The app - which uses Barclays secure payment gateway and is PCI DSS compliant (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) - will allow the user to have a personal account with the option to store details and payment method plus previous journeys, handy for claiming back expenses.
You can download the app for your handset by visiting this page.
